The story of Moon Tale
Moon Tale is the romantic one. Cavallier-Belletrud built it around a Chinese cultural reference that any reader of Tang dynasty poetry will recognise instantly, the moon as the keeper of longing, of lovers separated by distance, of nights too quiet to sleep through. It is the same emotional register Chang'e legends have run on for a thousand years.
The bottle leans into the mood. Cyan-blue lacquer, a bright orange cap, an object that wants to be displayed rather than tucked into a drawer.
What Moon Tale actually smells like
The composition opens on raspberry, which is the trick of the whole thing. Raspberry in fine perfumery is rarely the candied, sticky version you find in cheaper releases. Cavallier-Belletrud uses it as a luminous fruit, almost tart, the kind of note that lifts white florals rather than overwhelming them.
Underneath, the heart unfolds. Peony brings the soft pink airiness. Magnolia adds a creamier, slightly lemony white floral weight. Jasmine sambac threads a quiet sensuality through the middle. Rose geranium gives the whole bouquet a green-stem freshness.
