Bianco Latte launched in 2019. The family business behind it opened in 1942, when Giovan Piero and Emma Ducci set up a small perfumery in Casentino, a valley in eastern Tuscany.
The shop worked from old formulas. The family traces its recipes to a grandfather who worked as a pharmacist, and for decades the bottega sold scents and unguents locally. The founders' daughter Irma built it into a proper perfumery. Her daughter Silvia Martinelli then turned a village shop into the brand the world now knows as Giardini di Toscana.
Martinelli composed Bianco Latte herself, and she launched it into a market chasing oud and smoke. A milk and caramel scent was an odd bet in 2019. The formula is short and open: caramel, honey, coumarin, vanilla and white musk. It smells like warm milk and pulled sugar. That is the whole idea. The scent spent its first years as an Italian favourite, then TikTok reviews carried it abroad and turned a quiet Tuscan release into a global seller. One Italian reviewer summed it up as a national cult turned worldwide phenomenon.
The honest read: this is not complicated perfumery, and it never claims to be. Five listed notes, one mood, executed cleanly. Complexity is not what people buy it for. What you are really buying is comfort, plus eight decades of one family learning exactly what customers come back for twice.
