Erba Pura is older than its label admits. The fruit-and-musk bestseller first appeared in 2013 under Sospiro, a sister brand from Xerjoff founder Sergio Momo, and only moved into the main Xerjoff catalogue in 2019, which is why Fragrantica dates it there. Naxos has a simpler paper trail: launched in 2015 in the house's XJ 1861 line.
Erba Pura is sunshine turned up loud, on purpose. Sicilian orange, Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian lemon open it, a wall of sweet fruit fills the middle, and white musk, Madagascar vanilla and amber carry the base. There is no complicated story here. It is fruit, musk and volume, and it became a Mediterranean summer signature precisely because it does one thing at full blast.
Naxos plays in another key. Citrus and lavender up top, then the real event: honey and tobacco leaf, warmed with cinnamon, vanilla and tonka bean. It is golden and dense, a dessert with a cigar in its hand, and it belongs to autumn and winter the way Erba Pura belongs to a beach.
Season decides this one more than taste does. Erba Pura in heat is glorious, and in a cold office it can feel like someone opened a bag of sweets. Naxos in July is heavy going, yet in December it is the compliment machine of the pair. Same house, same loudness, opposite calendars.
