Matière Première Vanilla Powder is a powdery coconut vanilla that costs €250 for 100ml on the brand's own site (checked September 2026). Vanilla Dust is our take on it at 35% Extrait: £40 for 50ml, or £6.99 to try a 5ml first.
Vanilla Dust, our take on Vanilla Powder by Matière Première. 35% Extrait, 7+ hours guaranteed, 60-day money-back. Try the 5ml for £6.99, or the 50ml at £40 (buy any 2, get 1 free).
What Vanilla Powder perfume smells like
It is not a sugary vanilla. Matière Première built it on a contrast: dark Madagascar vanilla absolute against what they call "an overdose of modern white perfumer powders".
On skin that reads as soft and milky first. Coconut powder and heliotrope open it. The vanilla sits in the heart, dark and slightly woody. Palo santo and white musk hold the base, which is why it clings to a jumper long after you have taken it off.
If most vanillas smell like a cake shop to you, this is the one people switch to.

Our third best-selling scent
In the 90 days to 30 September 2026 we sold 88 bottles of Vanilla Dust. Only two of our scents sold more, Imaginaire and Eventus. It went from 15 bottles in June to 34 in August, and buyers rate it 4.6 out of 5 from 14 reviews.
That is not an accident of marketing. Vanilla scents live or die on the base. Vanilla absolute and musk are heavy, slow materials, so they only reach you hours later if there is enough oil left on your skin to carry them. At 35% Extrait, the highest disclosed concentration in the UK, there is. That is why we put 7+ hours in writing.
Is Vanilla Powder unisex?
Yes. Matière Première say none of their perfumes has a set gender, and this one wears that way: clean and powdery rather than sweet. Vanilla Dust is the same. It suits the office as well as a night out, and it works in winter and summer.
Is it identical?
No dupe is a molecule-for-molecule copy, and we will never claim one is. Vanilla Dust chases the same coconut, vanilla and musk signature at 35% Extrait. The real test is simple: can you tell? If you can, you have 60 days to get your money back.
Try it first
Start with a 5ml Vanilla Dust for £6.99, about a week of wear. Or pick five scents in the 5ml x5 starter set and put Vanilla Dust next to our other vanillas.
