The number only we can give you
We make a take on both, at one price and one strength, so the sales sit on a level floor. In the last 90 days Chivarly (Layton) sold 20 bottles and Monarch (Herod) sold 9. The apple-and-vanilla one more than doubles the tobacco one.
That is not a knock on Herod. It is a cold-weather, tobacco scent, so it does its selling in winter. Layton is an all-year crowd-pleaser, which is why it moves faster across a 90-day window. Reviews are too thin to lean on here (Chivarly 4.8 from 4, Monarch 5.0 from 1), so the sales count carries the point.
How they smell
Layton is apple and lavender up top, a little violet and cardamom in the middle, then vanilla, sandalwood and pepper. Sweet, spiced, easy to like.
Herod is darker. Cinnamon and pink pepper open it, tobacco leaf and incense sit in the heart, and it dries down to vanilla and warm woods. A fireside scent, not a daytime one.
Monarch, our take on Herod by Parfums de Marly. 35% Extrait, 7+ hours guaranteed, 60-day money-back. Try the 5ml for £6.99, or the 50ml for £40 (buy any 2, get 1 free).
