There are now seven things called Sauvage. Dior does not publish a concentration percentage for a single one of them.
That is the whole problem. You are asked to spend between £67 and £12,600 on a bottle, and the one number that tells you how strong it is does not appear anywhere on the box.
Here is every version, what it actually smells like, and what it costs in the UK today.
The short answer
They are not one scent at five strengths. EDT, EDP and Parfum are a family. Elixir is a different scent that borrowed the name. Extrait is a third thing again.
If you want the Sauvage everyone knows, that is the EDT. If you want it sweeter and spicier, that is Elixir. If you want it dark and woody, that is the new Extrait.
Every version, by strength
1. Sauvage Extrait, 2026, £153 for 50ml
The newest and the strongest. Made by Francis Kurkdjian, not François Demachy who did the first four. Lavender, ambroxan and bergamot open it, Vietnamese oud sits in the middle, and two cedars, vetiver and patchouli hold the bottom.
Dior matures it for 42 days before bottling and calls it their first extrait de parfum for men. Kurkdjian, asked whether they could push the strength further, said he was not sure they could go up from here.
Only sold in 50ml. There is no 100ml.
Our version: Savage Oud, £40, 35% Extrait. In build, waitlist open.
2. Sauvage Elixir, 2021, £210 for 100ml
The one that held the strength crown until July 2026. Nutmeg, cinnamon and cardamom over grapefruit, then licorice, sandalwood, amber and Haitian vetiver. Sweet, spicy, a bit liqueur-like.
It is also the best-reviewed Sauvage on Fragrantica at 4.30 out of 5 from 19,193 votes, which is a lot of people agreeing.
Our version: Solvage Noir, £40, 35% Extrait. In stock.
3. Sauvage Parfum, 2019, £149 for 100ml
Bergamot, mandarin and elemi on top, sandalwood in the middle, olibanum, tonka and vanilla underneath. Warmer and smoother than the EDP, less sharp at the opening. Fragrantica 4.11 from 6,264 votes.
4. Sauvage Eau de Parfum, 2018, £125 for 100ml
The EDT made richer. Same bergamot opening, then Sichuan pepper, lavender, star anise and nutmeg, over ambroxan and vanilla. The vanilla is what separates it from the EDT. Fragrantica 4.21 from 14,878 votes, the second best-liked in the line.
5. Sauvage Eau de Toilette, 2015, £110 for 100ml
The original and still the one most people mean. Calabrian bergamot and pepper, then Sichuan pepper, lavender, pink pepper, vetiver, patchouli and geranium, over ambroxan, cedar and labdanum.
It has 34,200 Fragrantica votes, more than double any other version, and the lowest score of the core four at 3.85. That gap is the story of Sauvage: enormously popular, and people are tired of smelling it.
Our version: Savage Essence, £40, 35% Extrait. In stock.
6. Sauvage Eau Forte, 2024, £149 for 100ml
The odd one. Alcohol-free, built on water and oil instead, which makes the juice look milky. Dior describe it as fresh as an eau de toilette and as intense as a parfum.
⚠️ The public disagrees. Fragrantica rates it 2.44 out of 5 from 2,962 votes, by a distance the worst-received thing in the line. Worth smelling before you buy.
7. Sauvage Rare Blend, 2025, £12,600
Not really a product. Fifteen bottles worldwide, 350ml of black Baccarat crystal, oud, vanilla and labdanum infusions. The Dior page has no add to basket, only an option to speak to an ambassador.
If you see this name on a discount site, it is not the Rare Blend.

The number Dior will not print
Every fragrance house sells you concentration as a word. Eau de toilette, eau de parfum, parfum, elixir, extrait. Those words have loose industry conventions behind them and no legal definition.
Dior does not publish an oil percentage for any of the seven. Anyone quoting you exact percentages for Sauvage is guessing.
We publish ours. Every Aromara spray is 35% Extrait, written on the site and in the refund policy. You can hold us to it, which is the point of printing it.
Which one should you actually buy
- Never owned a Sauvage? Start with the EDT. It is the signature.
- Own the EDT and want more? Skip the EDP, go to Elixir. It is the biggest jump in character.
- Want something nobody at work has? Extrait. It is the dark, woody, divisive one.
- Want to try before spending £153? Our 5ml is £6.99 and the 50ml is £40.
Try the family for £24.99
Build a 5ml x5 starter set and put Savage Essence and Solvage Noir side by side at full strength. That is the cheapest way to work out which Sauvage you actually are.
