Dior's prestige line
Oud Ispahan belongs to the Maison Christian Dior collection, formerly La Collection Privée, the house's exclusive line reserved for its richest and most experimental work. It was composed by François Demachy, Dior's long-serving Parfumeur-Créateur, around 2012, at a time when oud was sweeping through Western luxury perfumery. Demachy's brief was, in effect, to make oud regal: not challenging or medicinal, but plush, warm and palatial.

The fragrance is built on the timeless pairing of rose and oud, the European flower and the Eastern wood. A rich Damascus rose and a touch of saffron open it, before a deep, smooth oud arrives, wrapped in patchouli, amber and a resinous warmth. Sandalwood, cedar and musk ground the base.
