What to look for in an oud
Oud is not one smell. At one end it is dry, woody and a little medicinal. At the other it is resinous, smoky and animalic. Most men want the middle: warm, resinous, with real projection but not a headache. What sits around the oud decides the mood. Saffron makes it glow. Patchouli makes it darker. Rose makes it softer. Sandalwood sands the edges off. Fruit makes it friendly.
