The Terenzi family story starts in 1968 with candles, not fragrance. Evelino Terenzi and his wife Luigia Mancini opened a small waxworks in Cattolica, Italy, 16 square metres of devoted labour. They were carrying on Evelino's father's work: making devotional candles for churches, Paschal candles, the everyday ritual objects that hold scent in wax form.
Fragrance came later. In 2012, the second generation took over. Siblings Tiziana and Paolo Terenzi decided to build their own house. Tiziana became artistic director. Paolo became the nose, the president, the chemist at the centre. They kept the family location in Cattolica and refused to compromise on one thing: concentration.
Every Tiziana Terenzi fragrance is extrait de parfum strength. Not EDP, not cologne, not a lighter version for easier marketing. Extrait. That means 20 to 40 per cent fragrance oil, which means projection, longevity, and depth. Most niche houses offer a range of concentrations. Tiziana Terenzi does not. The decision is simple to describe and costly to execute. It says: this is the only version that matters.
That focus extends to the formulas themselves. The house makes fragrances that are extravagant, powerful, and unapologetic. Kirky, one of the house signatures, is a tobacco and amber-forward scent that does not soften for lighter tastes.
