Maison Crivelli was founded by Thibaud Crivelli on an unusual principle: rather than abstract themes, every fragrance is built around a specific sensory memory. Oud Maracujá, made in collaboration with the perfumer Jordi Fernández, comes from the idea of tasting passionfruit deep in an oud forest, the collision of bright and dark, fresh and deep. The house says Crivelli first discovered oud in huts on stilts in a remote oud forest.
What Oud Maracujá smells like
It opens on a burst of passionfruit, juicy and almost tart, with saffron and Turkish rose adding spice and a honeyed floral richness. Then the oud arrives, smooth and warm rather than medicinal, deepened by benzoin and patchouli. The base of leather, vanilla, cistus and akigalawood grounds it in amber warmth.
The effect is novel: the fruit keeps it fresh and modern, the oud keeps it serious, and the two play off each other from first spray to last. It leans rich and slightly sweet, it projects well, and it is a notorious compliment-getter.
